Performer Denies Anti-Vaccine Views Following Narrating Controversial Covid Feature
Liam Neeson has provided his narration to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and praises ex- government figure RFK Jr.
The Film's Disputed Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a bestselling book co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for allegations that the virus was a result of a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
The book's co-author, a producer, has also written books with far-right figure the Infowars host. He recently posted praising Neeson's role in the documentary.
A Strong Statement
The team of Neeson have issued a statement strongly denying suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"Everyone can acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the drug industry, but that cannot be equated to being against vaccines," the response reads. "Liam has never been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His long work with the global charity reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement added that the performer had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that concerns about its claims are best addressed to the creators.
Key Themes Featured in the Film
As presented, the voiceover read by Neeson makes several provocative statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It posits that "science has become deeply politicised."
- Kennedy is featured claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The narration further attacks stay-at-home orders, saying they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Controversy and Recent Debates
It also references a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, Kennedy directed the national health agency to change its longstanding position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is also referenced in the documentary, even with a recent study from the WHO stating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Record of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the film's tone, Neeson has in the past shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "an incredible human success story," adding that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The film finishes with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This is not the end of our narrative. Rather, it is the beginning of a new chapter."
