Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the tragedy, public individuals expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser ought to have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
