'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Missing Teenagers Desperately Seek News After Ski Resort Blaze
The families of young people unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are facing an excruciating wait for answers and pleading for clues about their loved ones via social media.
The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated footage depict the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.
Officials have stated that it could take considerable time to formally name the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and wounded another 119. Officials said on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to name the final individuals.
In the meantime, loved ones have been using online platforms to appeal for clues about their loved ones who were at the bar that evening.
